Part of serving a mission is learning new things. With the addition of a pandemic, it is clear we all need to learn more about technology. Since Hong Kong has been hitting record numbers of covid infections each day, we’ve had to revert to online church.
Although Paul goes into work most days, I work from home. The weather is nice enough now that I can sit by the open window and hand stitch. My work consists of sending out translation requests for the Communications Department, coordinating EnglishConnect for Missionaries for our 11 missions, and coordinating a sisters’ scripture study group. I also have English conversation groups with some local youngsters and teach piano.
If you ask Paul what he does, he will say that he is, “Building the Kingdom, one email at a time.” It has been difficult for me to figure out Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint and Zoom. So much of our communication is online and sometimes the internet connection from our apartment is not the best.
Because we are learning new things, I’m starting to think YouTube can teach me how to bake anything. Joshua Weissman has taught me how to bake my own hamburger buns.
They take about 4 hours to make, but are worth it. Paul makes our own hamburgers (with a tie on).
What have you learned to do in the past year? Isn’t that amazing?
